Galata Mevlevi Lodge is the central lodge of the first Mevlevi dervishes in Istanbul. The Mevlevi Lodge, which was used as a Khalwat lodge for a while and as a madrasah for a while, also served as a Divan Literature Museum. Restored with the contributions of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, the building is still used as a museum.
Some of the people who are buried in Galata Mevlevîhânesi reached the position of sheikh, some beautified the Mevlevîhânesi with their hearts, and some took part in the construction stages of the Mevlevîhânesi. Those who touched hearts with their services are buried in the mausoleum of the Galata Mevlevîhânesi and in the susanlar section, which is known as hâmûşân.
Sheikh Galib, who was raised with Mevlevi etiquette from his birth due to the fact that his grandfather and father were Mevlevi, was himself a Mevlevi Dede, the last great poet of dîvan poetry, and a composer of Turkish music, has many speeches that are performed today.
